2002 Schouten Single Vineyard Pinot Noir.

Mr Whirly Says

"A big wine with deep colour and inviting nose. This is American Pinot Noir, in no way to be confused with Burgundy Pinot. Myron Redford, the winemaker has gone for purity of fruit not trying to imitate its Burgundian counterpart. The “farmyard“ qualities of Burgundy are there, particularly in the mouth and the aftertaste is sweet and persistent. Strong kirsche cherries and bitter chocolate. Not a Pinot Noir for beginners

The richness of the wine will suit soft game such as Duck and Venison."

2005 “Dry “Gewürztraminer

Classic spice highlights this dry Gewürztraminer. Alc 13% vol.

Price: £11.65

Mr Whirly Says

"This grape is only found in certain wine regions of the world other than Alsace and the Willamette valley in Oregon produces something a little out of the ordinary. Intense elderflower and floral perfumes combine with a hint of cinnamon and five spice and a long, dry finish."

2006 Gewürztraminer (image will follow shortly)

These wines had just arrived into the UK in June 2008. As always with Myron Redford’s wines this wine has finesse and class. It is dryer and more zesty and more complex than the 2005, almost an orange marmalade zestiness with hints of lychee and grapefruit.

2006 "Willamette Valley" Pinot Noir (image will follow shortly)

This wine arrived in May this year (2008) and following a tasting of it in January four months earlier I was going to keep it in the bottle for 6 months. However I tasted a sample a few weeks ago and its drinking melodiously well. It has some lovely soft cherry jam middle palate (a hint of both black and red cherry) and a lovely dark chocolate and leathery finish. Being a lovely blend of six single vineyards from around the Willamette Valley this wine really has been made with a combination of grapes that are really exceptional in their quality.

2002 “Late Harvest” Gewürztraminer

The nose is full of sweet lychee and floral notes that follow through into the mouth.

Alc 10.0% vol

Price: £12.95 (375ml)

Mr Whirly Says

"Lychee and Elderflower flourish on this extraordinary wine. Light in alcohol at only 10% its perfect with soft Spring and summer fruit berry puddings and Pavlova ( which we love!!)"
